Cargo Airlines

Air freight became a major business starting World War II  with the spread of international services and the introduction of large jets with greater flying and loading capacity. With the development of the jumbo jet, the acceleration of international trade spurred the industry’s growth.  There are two basic types of cargo carriers – cargo carriers that deal only with freight, and those that carry both passengers and cargo freight.  Usually, shippers pay a hefty amount to ship their cargo by air than by sea.  Air cargo is placed in sealed metal containers that are safer from damage and prevention of theft. Air cargo is also easier to load and unload when being ferried on the aircraft.  Shipping by air is also a lot faster especially when being transported to distant places.

Airplanes do not carry heavy bulk commodities such as coal, iron ore, grain, and soil, so air carriers handle only a tiny percentage of the total weight of the world wide cargo.  Although, you can send your heavier cargo through DHL, UPS, and FEDEX. They cost more but it is worth it.  Most cargo airlines provide dependable service and competitive rates.  Dimensional weights are calculated through standards set by the IATA (International Air Transport Association). All rates are subject to change without notice.

Domestic Cargo
There are airlines in the country that operate non-scheduled air passenger and cargo charter flights in the Philippines and other Asian countries, moving and delivering equipment, supplies and products safely, efficiently, and promptly to and from domestic destinations.  Commodities that require handling and documentation are classified as special.  Special cargo is treated with special care and placed at special locations. The most perishable cargoes are stored under specific temperature.  Restricted articles and dangerous items like flammables and explosives, corrosives and radioactive materials, are also considered special cargo.  Cargo forwarders in the Philippines are committed to providing excellent quality services that satisfy customers.

International Cargo
The Philippines has a lot of international cargo forwarders, most of which carry money-back guarantees and commodity inspection-free declarations.  Minimum requirements usually start at 45 kilograms.  There are sets of rules that we should be aware of when opting to transport cargo by air.  Some of the rules state that carriers are answerable for all damages and loss that were caused by the negligence of the carrier.  Added to these sets of regulations, the carrier is not liable for the cargo’s quality and any damages due to natural causes beyond the carrier’s control.

Tariffs and Regulations
Cargo that is needed to be shipped immediately should be sent by air. There are definite schedules and special services you can avail from air cargo forwarders.  You can go for door-to-door or airport-to-airport service, priority shipment that usually gets to where you want in two days.  Cost-effective standard shipments mat take three to four days.  Economy cargo, where time is not that critical, gets delivered in five to six days.  In compliance with the tariff agreement between the Philippine government and cargo forwarders, a two-percent Value Added Tax is added to the total amount of all transactions on all domestic services.
